Singapore has moved into Phase Two: Safe Transition, and we're happy to announce that the Malay Heritage Centre has re-opened. All our galleries are open, however, there will be no programmes during this period.
The well-being of our visitors and staff remains our primary concern. For your safety, safe management measures will be implemented during your visit. These include:
- The use of SafeEntry upon entry and exit
- Temperature taking
- Safe-distancing of at least one metre at all times
- Wearing of mask at all times
- No more than 5 visitors for group visits.

The Malay Heritage Centre Museum

The Malay Heritage Centre compound is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 8am to 9pm.

How to Get There
If you are driving, you can park your vehicles at the public carparks along Aliwal Street, Kandahar Street and Pahang Street or at the multi-storey carparks at Textile Centre and Sultan Plaza. Parking charges are applicable.
Alight at Bugis (EW12) station. MHC is about 10 minutes walk from the train station.
From North Bridge Road: Bus service no. 7, 32, 51, 63, 80, 145 & 197.
From Victoria Street: Bus service no. 2, 7, 12, 32, 33, 51, 63, 80, 130, 133, 145, & 197.
From Beach Road: Bus service no. 10, 14, 16, 70, 100, 107, 196 & 401.

To fully appreciate the exhibitions and for the comfort of all visitors, please switch your mobile phones to silent mode and refrain from talking or laughing loudly. No running in the galleries.
Still photography for private, non-commercial use as a visitor to the Museum is allowed. The use of a flash and tripod is prohibited.

[ANNOUNCEMENT] Our guided tours have resumed! Group size of each tour is limited to no
more than five (excluding guide), and are subjected to the availability of guides. You are encouraged to check
in with our front desk on the tour schedule, and on-site registration will be required. Please note that
all participants of our guided tours will be required to adhere to safe management measures as indicated on
the Checklist of Safe Measurement Measures for Museum Stakeholders (Phase 2) advisory that is
available on NHB’s
website. These include:
i. Participants to use hand sanitisers or wash their hands with soap
and water prior to start of tour.
ii. Participants to wear masks at all
iii. Participants in the group
should maintain a 1 metre spacing from other groups.
iv. Participants should refrain from speaking loudly.
v. There will be no interactive elements during the tour.

Guided Tours - Permanent Galleries
Join our free guided tours of the Malay Heritage Centre's permanent galleries and learn more about Kampong Gelam and
its significance to the Malay community. These tours are conducted in English by experienced museum docents:

Preparatory Visit - Guided Tours
Teachers or school administrators are advised to conduct a
preparatory visit to MHC. This will allow you to plan the necessary logistics and be familiar with our
facilities and the surrounding area.
