Experience the grandeur and majesty of the Malay royal court with this unique Beats on Baghdad Street session entitled 'The Cogan Effect' by Sriwana.
Follow the royal entourage as they make their way through Kampong Gelam in a royal procession, accompanied by traditional Malay music and dance, and led by the cogan, which is part of the Royal Regalia of Johor-Riau.
The presence of the regalia was fundamental to the installation of the Sultan as it was a symbol of power, legitimacy and sovereignty of the state.
Beats on Baghdad Street is a series of outdoor performances presented by the Malay Heritage Centre that showcases the vibrancy of Malay arts and culture.
